The mission of the Duke Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative (Duke I&E) is to create a robust culture across the entire university in which we inspire and prepare students and faculty for innovative leadership and actively support and celebrate the translation of knowledge into the service of society.
Administratively housed within the Office of the Provost, Duke I&E acts as a centralized organizer for "all things I&E" on campus and in our community. We connect students, faculty and alumni to the infrastructure and resources to increase their abilty to realize impactful solutions. In addtion, Duke I&E hosts several of its own programs, including unique summer experiences for students, course development grants for faculty, original research in entrepreneurship, and mentorship and support programs for new ventures.
"One of the hallmarks of a Duke education is the ability to translate theory into practice. Supporting innovation and entrepreneurship at Duke is a way of helping faculty, staff and students transform creative ideas from the classroom or the laboratory into real-world applications."
