Prior to joining Duke I&E, Brian was most recently the associate director of alumni relations and development for the Division of the Humanities at the University of Chicago. A native North Carolinian, Brian moved to Chicago in 2012 to join the philanthropic consulting firm Grenzebach Glier and Associates (GG+A) and served both the arts and culture and academic medicine practice areas as project manager and consultant. 

He began professional life as a woodwind specialist performing and teaching before finding his way into arts administration and fundraising growing the educational programming of a rural community school for the arts in western North Carolina.
