Responsibilities

Summer Interns in the Growth Equity group function as an integral member of an experienced professional deal team, supporting Summit Partners’ effort to shape new investment themes and identify potential deal candidates, while assisting in all aspects of the investment process. Interns will be responsible for conducting market and industry research to identify and qualify investment opportunities, largely in private companies, as well as assist with transaction-specific responsibilities such as due diligence, performing quantitative analysis, and working closely with their specific Deal Team (generally 2-4 professionals).

Qualifications

Summer Interns who join Summit Partners possess a strong record of academic achievement at the undergraduate level from a leading college or university. Successful candidates will have a proven track record of leadership skills, outstanding academic achievements and extra-curricular honors including in some cases success in collegiate athletics. While we prefer candidates who have an understanding of economics, accounting, and/or corporate finance, majoring in these fields is not a requirement.

Terms

This is a paid, temporary, non-exempt position that is not eligible for the Firm’s standard benefits package. In this position your work schedule is typically Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm with overtime to be expected. This schedule may vary from week to week. The summer internship program is typically 8-12 weeks in duration.

Baebies Marketing Internship

Baebies delivers innovative products and services to advance newborn screening and pediatric testing worldwide. Fall 2017 Internship For Duke Institute for Health Innovation

Seeking Duke undergraduate or masters level students for part time (8-12 hours/week) fall semester internship with the Duke Institute for Health Innovation (DIHI). Seeking students studying statistics, computer science, engineering, or mathematics with strong quantitative sciences and programming background. Interns will join a small team of health care providers, software developers, and statisticians to develop data-driven products to improve health care delivery at Duke University Health System.

DIHI data science pilot projects seek to analyze medical claims and electronic health record data and deliver model results to clinicians to provide personalized health care. Previous examples of projects include identifying patients at high risk of kidney failure for subspecialty referral and identifying patients at high risk of sepsis for treatment with antibiotics and intravenous fluids.

During the internship, students will learn about the role of predictive analytics and machine learning in health care and will gain extensive experience working with real data. Scope of work includes validating and normalizing raw claims and electronic health record data in order to build meaningful features to be used in machine learning models, running baseline machine learning models, and building user interfaces for model results to be incorporated into clinical care. The intern will work closely with DIHI staff, statistics faculty and graduate students, and software developers. The intern will attend weekly 1-hour team meetings and will be expected to work 8-12 hours/week. Work time, place, and start date are flexible. The intern will be included in the publication of any work that results from project work. The intern will report to DIHI staff.

There are two intern tracks: data science and web application development. Successful data science applicants will have at least 2 years of experience with R, and/or Python.  Preference will be given to applicants with experience interacting with databases through SQL. Successful web application development applicants will have at least 2 years of experience with a web framework such as Node.js, Ruby on Rails, or Django. Preference will be given to applications with JavaScript experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for students seeking to gain experience working with healthcare data, whether the student hopes to pursue a career providing healthcare or in the digital health industry. Machine learning in healthcare is an emerging field and the team working on these projects is on the cutting edge.

The ideal candidate is a professional, detail-oriented,friendly, and must be fluent in Premiere Pro CC. Bonus points for other Creative Cloud programs such as After Effects.

We’re looking for a Strategy Intern

As we prepare to launch our made-to-measure clothing line, we are looking for a partner to help
drive our go to market strategy. We need a creative thinker and problem-solver to research and
propose novel solutions to marketing our line of apparel to customers digitally and in person, and to equip us with the information to decide how best to leverage our brand concept to deliver a high quality and meaningful customer experience.

We are launching an innovative made-to-measure blazer, manufactured in North Carolina, beautifully tailored to fit each woman while supporting ethical and environmentally conscious U.S.-based production partners.

We’ve spent the past two years honing our brand concept, prototyping products, learning from
our community, building a following, finding our niche in the women’s apparel market and now we
are poised to expand our impact. By joining us now, you’ll play a critical role in the direction of the company as we work on the frontier of innovation in women’s apparel.

Here’s what we’re looking for:
You are passionate about a woman’s power to make a mark on the world. You are comfortable
conducting both quantitative and qualitative market research. You’re not afraid to pick up the
phone to connect with a variety of companies, and to work in a new frontier for apparel
researching distribution channels and innovative outreach methods. You love numbers and
financial projections, and are comfortable working with them. You are detail oriented. You can
work independently. Ideally, you live in or around Durham, NC.

Hours:
Flexible hours and mostly remote, minimum of 5 hours per week.

Internship length:
three months – 9 months

Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship, though as we grow, we intend to bring on full time
staff.

If you were working for us, here are some of the things you might have done last week:
• Contributed to a brainstorming session with founder and CEO Reid Miller, advisors and
collaborators for “outside the box” approaches to reaching women with made to
measure apparel digitally and in person.
• Developed a plan for investigating and collecting information for each approach.
• Researched revenue generation and customer reach for each strategy
• Contacted business owners with questions on their experiences with each strategy
• Build a financial model to pressure test distribution strategies
• Participated in weekly or biweekly updates on our testing of the made to measure
production system –providing strategic guidance to ensure the relevant data is
gathered

Here are some other things we are looking for:
• Current MBA student preferred
• Excellent analytical and pragmatic problem solving abilities
• Strong interpersonal skills & the power of persuasion
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong computer skills with a proficiency in Excel
• A sense of humor
• A willingness to learn
• Humility

Bonus points if you:
• Have experience quantifying product delivery options
• Know about the apparel industry and high quality, ethically sourced women’s clothing
• Care about the power of entrepreneurship to solve social and environmental problems
