Overview – Duke in Silicon Valley

Duke in Silicon Valley is a comprehensive four-week, one-course-credit program in northern California’s Silicon Valley for undergraduates with an interest in entrepreneurship. The program is designed to give students an intensive experience in the creation of new ventures, both commercial and social, through coursework, site visits, meetings, and exposure to the heart of the nation’s hub for innovative enterprise.

I&E 271A Building and Sustaining a Successful Enterprise

In this course, students will develop an understanding of the resources, skills, and planning required to launch a new product or service. Through lectures, case studies and visiting talks, the course addresses critical factors such as: ideation, competition and competitive advantage, financing requirements, corporate culture, product positioning, customer identification, and market segmentation.
