Communications Director
In her role as Director of Communications, Sarah develops and implements a vision and plan for strategic marketing, communications, and public relations for Duke I&E to best reach all audiences and stakeholders. This position embraces branding, digital and social media communications development, communications policy development, strategic messaging, executive communications, development communications, and stakeholder outreach.
Sarah came to I&E from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business, where she worked with the global marketing team as the school’s brand manager. Prior to joining Duke, Sarah was an editor, writer, and marketing specialist for various publishing houses. She also served as Program Director for Austin Bat Cave (ABC), a nonprofit in Austin, Texas providing free curricular and extracurricular writing programs to children, teens, and emerging adults.
Sarah brings a passion for storytelling to her work, having earned an MFA in creative writing from Texas State University. She studied English and psychology at Rice University and creative writing at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England. She enjoys writing, hiking, and spending time with her husband and children, and she belongs to too many book clubs.
